Geode Resin Art Course

Module 1: Background & Foundation Layer (Video: ~35 min)

We begin by preparing the canvas and creating the first foundation layer of your geode artwork.

Practical Steps:

• Select and prime your surface (MDF panel, canvas board)
• Sketch basic geode layout (curves, rings, openings)
• Mix background resin colors: choose a monochrome or contrast palette
• Pour the base layer and blend with tilt/swirl/brush techniques
• Add texture with sand, crushed glass, or granulated pigments

Module 2: Crystal & Cluster Application (Video: ~30 min)

Time to add the sparkle! We’ll embed crushed glass, faux crystals, or natural stones to form the geode’s ‘heart’.

Practical Steps:

• Plan crystal placement before applying resin
• Use hot glue or resin to fix clusters in place
• Balance large and small crystal shapes
• Enhance with reflective elements: foil, iridescent flakes, holographic glitter
• Secure with a thin resin seal

Module 3: Layering & Metallic Lines (Video: ~40 min)

Build up visual depth with multiple resin layers, metallic paints, and shimmering lines that define the geode’s flow.

Practical Steps:

• Mix new resin batches for each layer – thin pours to avoid waste
• Use gold, silver, or rose gold acrylic paint or foil tape to outline rings
• Experiment with alcohol inks or mica powders for radiant effects
• Blend transparency and opacity for layered illusion
• Optional: use silicone molds to pour geode slices

Module 4: Finishing Touches & Polishing (Video: ~20 min)

Finalize your piece with professional finishing: topcoat, edge polish, and hanging method.

Practical Steps:

• Sand sharp edges or unwanted texture
• Add clear glossy resin as doming layer for luxury shine
• Paint edges with matching metallic color
• Mounting hardware: sawtooth hanger or command strips
• Signature placement on the back

Module 5: Variations & Experimentation (Video: ~15 min)

Expand your creativity with different geode styles, color palettes, and functional formats.

Ideas to Try:

• Mini geodes: coasters, trays, jewelry dishes
• Try deep ocean, desert rose, or black galaxy themes
• Combine resin with acrylic paint or real minerals
• Create series of artworks in coordinated colors
• Track material costs and resin quantities for efficient planning
